Do Tree Spirits Cry When A Tree Is Cut Down? – by Tana Hoy

One of the memories I will never get out of my head happened when I was in junior high. I was walking along the road when I heard a loud, mechanical noise.

Tree Spirits

Tree Spirits

Looking for its source, I found a group of men, and one of them was operating a chainsaw.

They were cutting one of the oldest trees in our neighborhood down. As the machine came in contact with the bark of the tree, I felt this immense sense of pain and sadness come over me.

My clairvoyance and clairaudience was going crazy! I was very young, so part of me did not fully understand what it was. Years later, I discovered that the feeling I felt then, came from the very tree those men were cutting. I was hearing the cries and screams of the tree as they were cutting it down.

What Are Tree Spirits?

Spirits of the trees live in the tree itself. Every tree has a spirit, and they come in all forms and shapes. Think of the trees in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. The Ents in the story very closely resemble real tree spirits. As spirits, tree spirits are extremely wise, as a result of their age and nature.

Being literally rooted to the ground, tree spirits are fully in tune with the spirits of the Earth. As such, they have access to the core of the planet’s energies. A lot of people and civilizations hundreds of years ago have recognized the wisdom of the trees.

As I’ve mentioned, tree spirits come in all forms and sizes, depending on how old the tree is. Some trees in Japan and in the Amazon rainforest have been alive for thousands of years. I can just imagine what wisdom the spirits in those trees hold, being alive since the dawn of our existence.

What Happens When A Tree Is Cut Down?

Tree spirits however, are not immortal. They are created just like people. The only difference between man and tree spirits is the fact that they exist in the spiritual world, while we exist in the physical world. However, tree spirits are connected to the physical plane as well, since their existence is fully connected to physical trees.

This means that when a tree gets cut, the spirit in it suffers greatly, and it may even die. As a psychic who is greatly attuned to nature spirits, this breaks my heart, since thousands of trees get cut without regard every day.

I can only hope that man will start looking at nature, and all the things living in it, as living, breathing organisms. After all, without them, there would be no you or me.

As I pull into my place of residence I always just sit and notice the trees. But, the most trouble I feel and seeing new homes being build and the trees they destroy to build them. It’s so bad that the deers and other animals makes their make to the streets and highways you would never see them at. Thank you, for this piece it makes a lot of sense now.

Dear Tana, Thank you for this. I have thought I was loosing my mind. I have to have a tree cut from my property today. One of its branches is dead and is a great danger to my house. Part of the tree is still alive, but not salvageable. I have been absolutely devastated. I feel like I am losing a dear friend. Your article makes me feel like I’m not insane to feel this way. What can I do for this “friend” that has to move on??? I am going out to talk with the tree right now. So sad. Thanks for any response. Blessings, Sandy

Thank you for this article. Recently the trees down our road was trimmed back and was done so barbaric. I told my husband then I couldn’t stand driving down this road I could hear the trees screaming from pain. That’s all I could hear.

My apartment complex is acting on cutting beautiful pine trees that were marked for destroying last year. They are home to many gold Finch in the summer. Since a year had passed and not destroyed, I thought my letter had saved them. I feel sadness, anxiety and rage that cannot be expressed against a man who yields a chain saw. Where once a majestic pine stood proudly, all that remains is the scent of its life giving sap amongst crumbs of wood chips.

  8. Diana says:

Two cypress trees are doomed to be cut down in front of where I live, because a person who lives in the apartments decided she didn’t like the way they look. I am very sad about this, and have invited the tree sprites to come and live with me,and in the protection of my aura, until they can find a place to be.

Good to know i am not alone with this. For years, i am getting upset when i see trees marked for cutting, when i hear the chainsaws and the cracking of the wood and then seeing the stumps where once life was. People laugh at me and call me to sensitive…it’s just a tree. But not in my book, i don’t even know why. Where i live there are a lot of trees being cut lately β€žfor safety reasonsβ€œ, some places look like war zones. There is no regard for life or respect of nature anymore…bureaucrats. Sad world we live in…

This makes me so sad. We have commercial tree farms for wood production, and what about the christmas trees productions? We ‘produce’ everything on a large commercial scale these days, including animals for meat, dairy and eggs, plants, trees, etc. How does this affect the unseen realm of the spirit? I believe everything has a spirit or soul. How does our modern mass production/consumer mindset affect them? It can’t be good.

Thank you for the article. It means a lot to me.

I am at the beginning of a spiritual journey, so I sometimes doubt whether what I experience is real or something my consciousness creates.

Three days ago, I went for a walk. When I left home, I heard a chainsaw and saw a branch lying on the side of the road by a car.

I didn’t think any more about it.

On my walk I first put one hand and then the other hand on a tree for a few minutes.

On the way home I heard the chainsaw again and saw that the man had now moved. A branch had been cut from a tree. I didn’t think any more about it and continued home. As I passed the tree, I felt a very strong suffering. It was a very powerful experience.

When I drove by today, I saw that two trees had been felled. That tree was one of them. The other had been felled before I felt the suffering three days ago.
