Aries (March 21 to April 20)

This month, you might want to be cautious spending your hard-earned money. Unexpected expenses, such as home repairs or school expenses may gobble up much of your budget. Before buying anything, think twice whether you really need it or it’s just something that may only add to the clutter in your home. You may also want to find other sources of income to augment your monthly budget.

Taurus (April 21 to May 21)

This month might find you scratching your head more often than usual as your credit card bills pile up. If you’re paying much, much more than the cost of items you’ve purchased, it’s because of the high-interest rates, so you will need to prioritize the payment of the full amount shown in your monthly credit card billing statement, not just the minimum payment due.

Gemini (May 22 to June 21)

Your affectionate and generous nature appears to be taking its toll on your finances. You seem to have this penchant of buying gifts to friends, relatives, and even mere acquaintances. This month, it might dawn on you that you’d be better off making your own gifts instead of buying them. This way, you can save plenty of money.

Cancer (June 22 to July 22)

You’ve got to put the brakes to your impetuous nature this month. Don’t just grab anything that catches your eye while shopping. Your home may be starting to look more like a warehouse of unused items. Try the 30-day rule. Wait for at least a month before you decide to purchase a high-priced item that catches your fancy. The waiting time will give you a better perspective on whether that item is really worth your dollars.

Leo (July 23 to August 21)

Impulse buying and unplanned purchases are making a big hole in your pocket. This month, it’s about time you use your creativity to budget your money wisely. It’s not really rocket science. All you have to do is prepare a list of things you really need to buy when going to the grocery store or the mall. You’ve got to stick to this list—no ifs and buts. This way, you’ll not only save money but also avoid buying food and other items that might just go to waste.

Virgo (August 22 to September 23)

Your budget for food and entertainment may have been taking a beating lately as you may have been treating your friends to one too many free lunches and dinners. You don’t need to suddenly become a hermit to stop spending, but maybe you can invite them for dinner where everyone has got to bring their own food. You can play cards, watch movies, sit around a fire pit, and still have lots of fun!

Libra (September 24 to October 23)

If you’ve been spending big money lately just to entertain your children, buying them all sorts of toys and electronic gadgets, it might finally hit you that you could have saved a huge amount if you had not given in to the whims of your kids. Your kids don’t really need expensive toys to have a blast. You can just play ball with them in your backyard. Or you can go to the park and have fun. You can even teach how to ride a bike or how to fly a kite and save yourself all that money.

Scorpio (October 24 to November 22)

If you’ve been spending money recklessly, your skyrocketing bills may finally compel you this month to set up a budget plan. You may finally realize that you need to take care of your finances to free yourself from a looming debt trap. Resist your stubborn nature and come up with a workable plan on how you can pay off your debts and still save some money for future contingencies. Budgeting will give you peace of mind and make you enjoy life better.

Sagittarius (November 23 to December 22)

You might face a financial crisis this month. Don’t worry though, since you have hidden “treasures” in your closets and drawers that you can now put to good use. Collect all of the old valuable stuff you have there that you can do away with—old branded clothes and shoes, other personal items, gadgets, toys, etc. Put up a yard sale or sell them on eBay or Craigslist. This will not only solve your money woes but will also clear your home of unneeded items.

Capricorn (December 23 to January 20)

Your home electricity bill for this month could shock you. You must have consumed a lot of power in recent days. You have to find ways to save on your energy consumption without unduly burdening yourself. For instance, you can make it a point to turn off the lights every time you leave your house, or even when you leave a room, or when you have plenty of natural sunlight. You may also want to install CFLs or LEDs—those energy-efficient light bulbs. They might cost a bit more, but they have a much longer life than normal bulbs and use much less electricity.

Aquarius (January 21 to February 19)

One or two of your home appliances might suddenly conk out this month. Having them repaired might just be a waste of money. This time though, make sure to buy quality appliances that will last. Try to do some research before purchasing a new appliance. For instance, an energy-efficient washer and dryer might be a bit expensive now. But if this will consume less electricity and lasts for 15 years instead of five, you’ll save plenty of money in the long run.

Pisces (February 20 to March 20)

If you’ve noticed that you’re paying a lot more gas bills for your car these days, one of the possible culprits could just be your air filter. This month, have your dirty air filter changed. You can even improve your gas consumption for free by simply cleaning your air filter. It will take just a few minutes. Just follow the instructions in your car’s manual.
